Former President Hosts Gala for Meme Coin Investors

Former President Hosts Gala for Meme Coin Investors

Former President Donald Trump is set to host an exclusive dinner for top investors in his namesake ‘meme coin’ in November. This will be the third such gathering since his return to office, an event which has drawn criticism regarding the former president’s business dealings.

The private gathering is scheduled for November 22 at the National Golf Club in Northern Virginia. A notice on the $TRUMP coin website announced that the former president, alongside three yet-to-be-announced VIPs, will attend an “exclusive” dinner with 185 of the cryptocurrency’s most significant investors. Furthermore, the top 29 investors are slated to receive an invitation to a “VIP reception with your favourite President,” according to ABC News.

Criticism and Financial Disclosures

Critics have labelled these events as “brazen pay-for-play schemes.” The USA Today title also referenced a “TRUMP fragrance” and “18K gold watch” in connection with a previous meme coin event, suggesting a pattern of unique offerings to investors. These activities take place amidst reports of Democrats threatening crypto corruption probes, as noted by Gizmodo, highlighting the contentious nature of these ventures.

Financial disclosures reveal that the former president generated approximately $635 million in 2025 from these so-called “Celebration Coins.” This figure represents a substantial portion of the $1.4 billion he made from his overall cryptocurrency portfolio in the same year. The digital currency, often based on an internet meme, was launched in January 2025, just days before his inauguration.

The Meme Coin’s Volatile Value

Upon its launch, the coin’s value initially soared to more than $44 before plummeting almost immediately. Its value currently hovers around $2. This volatility means that an investor who purchased $10,000 worth of these coins at their peak would now hold an asset valued at less than $700. Despite the criticism and the volatile market performance, the White House has repeatedly and forcefully denied that the former president’s private business interests create a conflict of interest. Such financial activities are always under scrutiny, much like the broader economic impact of global events, as seen with discussions around Kelvin Wave threats to California sea levels.
