Real Madrid secured a commanding 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League, maintaining their perfect start to the competition. Midfielder Bernardo Silva scored his first goal for the club, contributing to a win that also saw strikes from Arda Guler, Kylian Mbappe, and Yan Diomande.
Real Madrid’s Four-Goal Triumph
The match, played on what marked Jose Mourinho’s 100th day back in charge of Real Madrid, saw RB Leipzig appear the more dangerous side for much of the first half, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois making smart saves from Christopher Nkunku and Romulo, as reported by BBC Sport. However, Real Madrid broke the deadlock two minutes before half-time when Bernardo Silva, a summer signing from Manchester City, converted from close range.
Real improved after the interval, with Arda Guler adding a second goal from a tap-in after Kylian Mbappe’s header across the face of goal. Mbappe then scored his 12th goal in 12 games this season with a curling finish from the edge of the penalty area, extending Real Madrid’s lead to three goals.
RB Leipzig managed to pull a goal back through Tidiam Gomis after a neat move. However, Real Madrid swiftly responded. Yan Diomande, a £120m summer signing who departed the German side in the summer, netted a spectacular volley from outside the box just two minutes later, solidifying the 4-1 scoreline. Earlier in the game, Carlos Espi also hit the post for Real Madrid.
