Xbox has reportedly secured exclusive cloud streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) at launch, set for November. This significant move means that players will be able to stream the highly anticipated title exclusively through Xbox Cloud Gaming from its release.
Exclusive Streaming Access Details
The deal, which Xbox boss Asha Sharma reportedly communicated to employees, positions Xbox Cloud Gaming as the sole platform for streaming GTA 6 at its November launch. According to The Verge, which initially broke the news, the exact duration of this exclusive arrangement remains undisclosed. However, Sharma highlighted that this is “something no other platform holder is doing,” suggesting a strategic advantage for Microsoft’s gaming division.
Sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans have confirmed that Xbox has secured these exclusive game streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI, as reported by Pure Xbox. This exclusivity is set to offer unique opportunities for players, including the ability for PC users to play GTA 6 via streaming ahead of its native PC release. Furthermore, owners of older Xbox One consoles will reportedly be able to stream the game to their last-gen systems, extending access to a broader audience.
Cloud Gaming Limits and Anticipated Player Surge
The exclusive streaming deal for GTA 6 arrives as Xbox Cloud Gaming implements new streaming limits for Game Pass members. From November onwards, even Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be restricted to a maximum of 15 cloud hours per month unless they opt to pay for additional time. These new limits coincide with the expected “huge influx of players” to Xbox Cloud Gaming once GTA 6 rolls out, suggesting Microsoft is preparing its infrastructure for the increased demand.
The accessibility provided by cloud streaming also means that players will be able to enjoy GTA 6 on various devices, including portable options like the Rog Xbox Ally, a feature noted by Pure Xbox. As anticipation builds for GTA 6, this exclusive streaming arrangement marks a significant development in the gaming landscape.
